Matt started his career in construction as a carpenter working in the family business. He founded Traine Construction in 2000. At that time, it was a provider of construction management to a large rental home developer. Matt’s ability to form strong relationships with industry professionals quickly elevated the company to the successful business it is today. Matt is proud that Traine is recognized for the team that brings both development, design and execution to multi-family housing. His desire to give back motivates his involvement in community projects both locally and abroad. Matt’s free time is enjoyed with his wife Lori, their family of five, and riding anything motorized (from dirt bikes to excavators).
CHAD DAVIDSON, AT
Chad is a 3rd generation developer/builder with hands-on experience in nearly all facets of residential development & construction. In his career, he has volunteered for leadership positions within industry organizations and believes strongly in working towards the betterment of the communities he touches. The Traine value of “Never Give Up” resonates best with Chad. He enjoys the daily challenge of working in an environment where everyone is pulling together to build the best quality projects in a faster, more efficient manner than anyone else in the market. Outside of the office, Chad coaches both his sons in hockey. Having been a former junior hockey player himself, he enjoys working with young athletes to help them become better people and players.
COLIN GAYFORD, CPA CMA
Colin graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2002 with a management degree. By 2004 he had obtained his professional accounting designation as a CMA. Since that time, Colin has been working as a real estate executive leading accounting, financial, and operational teams. His leadership has led, among other things, to the growth of one multi-family real estate company that managed a few hundred units to becoming a company managing over 6000 units in more than 14 centers in just six years. In that same time period, Colin’s work with the company’s lenders and investors led to the successful placement of over $1 billion in conventional, CMHC, and mezzanine debt. Colin is looking forward to using his skillset to help Traine achieve their vision of owning and operating 2025 multi-family units by the year 2025.
DAVE KOOT, BA, MA, CPCC
Dave has worked with numerous non-for-profit business and government organizations in advancing their strategic goals and living fully into their Mission, Vision and Values. He has over four thousand hours executive leadership coaching experience and co-authored several coaching manuals including “Coaching for Engagement” and “The Power of Full Engagement”. He is known for his ability to create candid and clarifying conversations that transform leaders. Having had a strong influence on creating Traine University which has both a “Leadership” and “Construction Builder” framework has brought him a sense of accomplishment. Dave is proud of the Traine team and their ability to attract, recruit, develop, and retain the best talent in the industry. Dave’s highest value is “connectedness” which is expressed both in his work and spending time with his family.
BODO PAPKE GSC, PEng
Bodo is a natural teacher and mentor. He has been hiring and mentoring engineering co-op students since 2007, and they have developed to various levels amongst a plethora of organizations. Bodo believes in his team’s professional expertise to build and execute a project the "Traine way". He also enjoys being a part of a company that is "fueled by generosity" and wants to make a difference locally and globally. Bodo is actively involved in Karate and has been fine-tuning his technique and discipline most of his life; he currently holds the rank of Nidan (2nd-degree black belt).
